LOCAL OUTREACHES SUPPORTED BY FD

"In 2003 a group of concerned residents began meeting on a monthly basis with other leaders in Clay County whose churches or organizations offered assistance to people in need.  This monthly meeting grew to involve more than 140 organizations, Churches and agencies; each sending representatives to share programs and resources, avoid duplication and plan Countywide Outreaches to homeless, disadvantaged and low income people in Clay County. This meeting was called The Mercy Network, which is now under the umbrella of Mercy Support Services. The needs of local care far too great for any one organization to manage. Mercy Support Services offers a platform for organizations, churches and human service agencies to come together to improve awareness of and communication with each other. This collaboration avoids duplication of services, allows for the sharing of resources, and prevents abuse of the system. The partnership formed between Mercy Support Services and these partners has brought about services that were previously missing in Clay County. Mercy Support Services now has supportive group residences for displaced families as well as a centralized clearing house where people in crisis are screened, qualified and case managed until they are self-sufficient."
